Our notes
DO & CO Hotel München
DO & CO Hotel München is a boutique hotel in the old town of Munich, at the FC Bayern World on Filserbräugasse, a short walk from Marienplatz, the Frauenkirche and the Bavarian State Opera. The hotel describes itself as a luxurious boutique hotel with sophisticated design, passionate service and an international flair, and it has 31 individually designed rooms and suites. Categories run from Classic and Superior Rooms through Junior Suites and a Junior Suite Corner Room to the Penthouse Loft Suite, which sits under exposed timber beams.
The hotel belongs to the Austrian DO & CO catering group and houses two restaurants that give a glimpse of the DO & CO kitchen: the DO & CO Restaurant and the DO & CO Bistro, which also serves breakfast. The building also holds the official flagship store of FC Bayern Munich. On its own site, the hotel shows a One MICHELIN Key listing for 2026 and the award of Luxury Design Hotel of the Year 2026 from Die 101 Besten. Guests arriving by car can drive up to the entrance at Löwengrube 14, where porters park the car in the nearby Operngarage.
From the review evidence recorded for this site, TrustYou showed 4.8 from 1,050 reviews and Google Maps 4.6 from 464, read in October 2026. Photographs: the hotel's own material on docohotel.com.
The area
Munich has loosened up. The old conservative image still fits the opera house and the museums, but the city now has a younger side, from the Schlachthofviertel nightlife district to the Isar, where a long rewilding project has turned the riverbanks into a place to sunbathe and swim in summer.
Walk from Odeonsplatz through the Hofgarten into the Englischer Garten, larger than Central Park. Eat at the Viktualienmarkt, the city's open-air food market. On Sundays the state museums charge one euro, and the Alte Pinakothek is the one to choose. The Hirschgarten, dating from 1791, is one of the biggest beer gardens anywhere.
For an evening, the Bavarian State Opera is among the best in Germany. Gärtnerplatz is the centre of the gay scene; Freddie Mercury lived nearby in the early 1980s.

Munich has loosened up. Three good hotels in the centre, the sights worth the walk, the Bavarian dishes to order - and picks from our two Munich experts, Peter and Christina.
