How we price

Everything here comes from one place: we check each hotel's own booking page on a regular schedule and write down what it is asking for that night.

The rules we hold ourselves to

• Public rates only. Where a booking engine leads with a members-only price, we take the ordinary one. A member may well pay less than we show.
• Always the same shape. Two adults, three nights. Comparing a two-night city rate with a seven-night resort package tells you nothing.
• The hotel's own engine first. It is usually the cheapest route, and the only one where loyalty discounts apply.
• We record the range, not a headline. A single "from" price is close to useless. What matters is the floor, the typical, and how far apart they are.

What the numbers mean

From is the cheapest we have ever seen it. It was real once; it is not on offer today. Typical is the middle of everything we have seen — the honest answer to "what will this actually cost me". Swing is how far apart the cheapest and dearest nights are.

Francs, euros and dollars

We keep our own notes in Swiss francs, because that is the currency we do the arithmetic in. Since most people do not think in francs, every figure carries a euro and a dollar equivalent beside it in smaller type.

Read those as conversions, not as quotes. No hotel ever offered you the euro figure. It is our franc figure — itself already converted from whatever currency the hotel charges in — run through a single reference rate on a single day. Two lossy steps. The rate is fixed at the moment the page is built rather than fetched live, so a figure we published stays reproducible instead of quietly re-pricing itself; the date it was taken is printed wherever the conversions appear. Current basis: EUR and USD figures are indicative conversions of the CHF figure at 2026-09-20 (1 CHF = 1.0584 EUR, 1.2158 USD), not prices any hotel quoted. The hotel bills in its own currency.

The ceiling

We work to about CHF 600 a night. A hotel stays on the list if it comes under that in its low season, which is why you will see properties here whose August price is double.

What this is not

These are prices we saw on a particular day, not live availability, and nothing here is an offer. Always check the price and the cancellation terms on the booking page itself before you commit.
