Our notes

A new resort on the Kvarner coast

The Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa opened in 2021 on the Adriatic coast between Opatija and Rijeka. It was developed by the Czech company JTH Holding, which invested more than 105 million euros. The rooms all face the sea, and there is a private beach with its own anchorage, an Eforea spa and health club, and the Risnjak National Park and the Učka Nature Park within reach inland. The photograph above shows the view from Costabella over the Kvarner bay towards Lovran, not the hotel itself.

The area

Rijeka is Croatia's main port and a working city rather than a resort. Walk the Korzo, climb to Trsat castle for the view over the harbour, and use it as the base for Opatija and the Kvarner coast.
