When to go

The cheapest month we have found is November, at around USD 370 a night - -7% against what this hotel usually asks.

Where to book

Where a hotel takes bookings on its own site, we send you there first. It is usually the cheapest way in, and the only one where a rewards discount counts.

Our notes

A design-led hotel beside St Paul's Cathedral

Club Quarters Hotel, St Paul's sits at 24 Ludgate Hill, a few steps from the cathedral. The building began as a post-war office block and has been converted into a hotel that keeps nods to the city's history: warm wooden detailing and a rich colour palette echo its mid-century roots, and contrasting textures refer to the bronze sculptures on the original facade.

The rooms are laid out for comfort without fuss, with soft beds, a flexible workstation and quiet teal, sage and oak tones, as the photographs show. Downstairs, the hotel runs its own all-day Counter for coffee, drinks, cocktails and snacks, and the French brasserie Côte is next door.

This is not a grand luxury address, and we have no official star grade on file for it. It is on our list because the position is hard to beat in the City and because guests rate it well: 8.6 on Booking.com from 5,732 reviews, with the location scored 9.6 (read on 1 November 2026).

What we saw on price. For 5-8 December 2026 the public flexible rate came to about GBP 327 a night, and the non-refundable one about GBP 301. A cheaper sign-in members' price also showed on the page; we do not count it, because it is not open to everyone.

Our verdict. Club Quarters St Paul's is one of my two favourites in London, with Vintry & Mercer. Vintry & Mercer has the better dining and the roof terrace, but the standard rooms here are larger and come with an espresso machine, and the hotel has a gym and very friendly, helpful staff. I was extremely impressed by the room service too. The lounge is comfortable and works well for remote work, and you do not have to book breakfast: there are pastries and coffee in the lobby anyway. St Paul's is so close that you can be the first in the morning for a quick visit, ahead of the crowds, with many other sights nearby.

The area

No one does London in a weekend, so choose a side. Central London gives you the South Bank walk along the Thames, Tate Britain at Millbank, the bookshops of Bloomsbury and a glass at Gordon's, a wine bar under Victoria Embankment since 1890.

East London is where the energy is. Go on a Sunday morning for the Columbia Road flower market, or a Saturday for Broadway Market in London Fields. Walk Victoria Park and the Regent's Canal towards Hoxton, where the Museum of the Home is free, then eat on Kingsland Road, known locally as Pho Mile for its Vietnamese kitchens. The Olympic Park in Stratford has become a cultural quarter in its own right. Summer, May to September, is when the East End is at its best.

South of the river, Brixton is one of the city's cultural hearts, with the best Caribbean food in town and a strong live music scene.

London: two sides of the city, and where to sleep for under USD 480

Nobody does London in a weekend, so pick a side. The West End and the South Bank, or the East End's markets and canals. And the hotels we track that still come in under USD 480 a night.
